Early Birds in NYC... get their worm

This is a line of voters at 7:00am at my old polling place in Greenwich Village where I used to live. It was taken by a former neighbor and he and I were both in disbelief at the line: half-way down the block and around the corner. That is unheard of.

I'm still in shock over the numbers and "tsunami" of blue not only in Congress, but across State Houses around the country. In NY State for the first time in over 100 years that we have Democrats in control of the NYC Council, State Assembly, State Senate and Governship. I shudder in fear of what this will mean. Already our Mayor has announced job cuts, budget cuts and and elimination of tax cuts and a 7% increase in both property and income tax. Gov. Paterson will convene a special session of the Assembly and Senate on Nov. 18th to do the same.

During the last legislative session they explored what the impact a 7 to 9% income tax increase would do to the state's budget. They put off voting on increasing taxes because of the impending election. Let's face it, who likes to be taxed?
